Having been granted entry into this competition at round 3 will Manchester United field a recognisable team??? Considering many lower devision teams have already been knocked out and missed the opertunity for a money spinning trip to Old Trafford, will Man Utd take this match seriously?
“If it had been a Manchester United player Hackett would never have done this for us.”
This is what Furguson has said in responce to John Terry’s red card being rescind by Keith Hackett, meaning Terry can play for Chelsea v Manchester United. Furguson’s remark is being looked into by the FA.
The tabloids often turn a poor run of results for big clubs into a “crisis”. I guess this is in line with their perception of what is arrogantly expected. Anyway, I suspect a loss in the Champions League to Villareal (at Home) and the to Chelsea (away) in the Premiership would trigger a “crisis”, especially considering the loss against Liverpool.
In addition with the worlds financial markets in turmoil will shirt sponsors be able to continue their sponsorship???
Alex Ferguson in an arrogant claim that Man Utd will be the first team to win back to back Champion Leagues, pointed out that they need to win this competition more times to become a great club like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Liverpool.
It’s Saturday, it’s 3 O’Clock and Man Utd have a fixture (v Fulham), unbelievable I know! Not any more it has been postponed, I assume to accommodate the “Super Cup” v Zenit St Petersburg. This is a meaningless match. The winners of a big competition play the winners of a small competition. Historically it would have carried some interest, when only a few team played in the European and UEFA Cups.
Following a request what follows is a brief summary of information supplied to the “Hate Man Utd Survey”. The plan is to run the survey until 1000 responses are entered - there is quite away to go! Could readers please post links to it in other blogs or forums they use to draw attention to it?
Liverpool fans are those which hate Manchester United with 38% of responses coming from their fans, surprisingly in second place is Spurs with 16% of responses received from their fans. 69% of respondents claimed their hatred rated as ”high” for Manchester United compared to other things they hated in life (other options being medium 27% and Low 4%). The percentage of “high” rated responses for hatred of Man Utd players was 58% but only 42% when playing for the respondents National Team. The highest ”high” rating was assigned to Manchester United fans at 77%.
88% of respondents have hated Man United for a long time!
This will be the third fixture between the teams in a close space of time; a preseason friendly in Nigeria and the Comunity Shield. Man Utd won both these fixtures surely it is Portsmouth turn to win. Especially after their mauling a Chelsea on the opening day of the season will have fired them up.
