Tevez sinks Man Utd

Tevez playing for Manchester City gets both goals to beat Man Utd 2-1 in the first leg of the League (Carling) Cup. The first resulting from a potentially dubious penalty, these things should even themselves out over the season, but are unlikely to in the case of Man Utd .

To add to the spice of the fixture the FA are going to investigate Gary Neville’s one finger salute to Tevez.

Controversial goal at Birmingham

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish thought the officials had eventually made the correct decision which led to the equaliser and the match finishing 1-1. Was he being diplomatic or respectful to the referee? Comments please!

“The linesman’s flagged for it and we felt that if he flagged for it then it shouldn’t be given,” McLeish said. “I thought at the time that it should have been given offside. We thought Rooney interfered with the guy who put it in the net.” For full article click here.

Great win! The biggest 3rd round upset of 2009/10 in the FA Cup. The start of the decade and a Man Utd home defeat. The commentator on ITV said with about 10 mins to go that injury time would be added in multiples of 5 minute intervals, how well informed was he (?) with 5 mins being added of “fergie time” (God knows where that came from). Wes Brown staying on the pitch after multiple fouls, after being booked defies belief. So the Leeds team won with the ref in the Mancs pocket! Great!!!!

Well lets add up all the extra, extra time over the years where Man Utd have scored to get a win or a draw, then this missing minute is of no consequence. Unless there was a deal to score in the missing minute……

Chelsea player kung fu kicked in the ribs by a Manc player, reminiscent of that thug Cantana. The outcome, a booking for the Chelsea player :( and not a penalty for Chelsea! A short time later Chelsea score to win the match 1-0 . The ref did his best by allowing 5 mins of injury time and again like the Liverpool fixture it wasn’t enough time - bizarre.

Yep hard to believe Liverpool 2-0 Man Utd and Liverpool score in the 5 mins of extra time. Did the ref get mixed up???? A great win in the Premier League game of the season. The build up was all about Liverpool’s poor run of form, Liverpool’s title race being over if the game is lost and Man Utd fans spoiling the game with Beachballs.

Trivia question: Why are tea and coffee not sold at Anfield in the stand above the Man Utd fans, for this fixture only? Answers via comments please, we will reveal the answer there later in the week….

The union for referees has demanded the FA get tough with the Manchester United boss for accusing Alan Wiley of being unfit. Ferguson accused Wiley of being unfit to referee United’s clash with Sunderland at Old Trafford last Saturday.

It is a clear smoke screen to divert attention from Wiley being in Fergies pocket, after Wiley played enough extra time for Man Utd to score in injury time (again). Or was Fergie’s upset because the idea was enough extra time should have been played to score 2 goals and thus a Man Utd win??? If Fergie is thrown out of football as a consequence of this (unlikely but possible, apparently) it will be so he can appeal against it - win - and take the cash as a pension pot .
