Curbishley wanted Man Utd to win?

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

West Ham boss Alan Curbishley refused to speak after Manchester United won 4-1 in a game pivotal to deciding the title. Assistant Mervyn Day played down comments which seemed to suggest the West Ham boss wanted Man United to win the league in preference to Chelsea.

“He felt Manchester United would be unlucky if they did not win the league, given they have been so dominant.”

I don’t think he said he wanted them to win.” Well he either did or didn’t - where there is smoke…..

“I know Alan thinks a lot of Sir Alex but that goes out the window when you cross the white line.” The Manager doesn’t cross the white line (assuming we mean the touchline of the pitch).

Man Utd v West Ham - Title run in.

Current situation: 2 games left for both Man Utd and Chelsea, equall on points and MU have the better goal difference. Here is a quote from Schmeichel “I think the two teams will match each other’s results, and not necessarily with each of them winning their last two games.” He is not confident that Man U can win against West Ham or Wigan.

Here is a Quote from Ferguson, “Hopefully we can win the match against West Ham”. Note the word hopefully. He is hoping to win just like millions are hoping to win the national lottery.

Come on West Ham!
