It’s Saturday, it’s 3 O’Clock and Man Utd have a fixture (v Fulham), unbelievable I know! Not any more it has been postponed, I assume to accommodate the “Super Cup”  v Zenit St Petersburg. This is a meaningless match. The winners of a big competition play the winners of a small competition. Historically it would have carried some interest, when only a few team played in the European and UEFA Cups.

Liverpool fans are those which hate Manchester United with 38% of responses coming from their fans, surprisingly in second place is Spurs with 16% of responses received from their fans. 69% of respondents claimed their hatred rated as ”high” for Manchester United compared to other things they hated in life (other options being medium 27% and Low 4%). The percentage of “high” rated responses for hatred of Man Utd players was 58% but only 42% when playing for the respondents National Team. The highest ”high” rating was assigned to Manchester United fans at 77%.

This will be the third fixture between the teams in a close space of time; a preseason friendly in Nigeria and the Comunity Shield. Man Utd won both these fixtures surely it is Portsmouth turn to win. Especially after their mauling a Chelsea on the opening day of the season will have fired them up.

John O’Shea  Claims Chelsea are more hated than Man Utd and that they play boring football.

The Sun recently reported Leeds are the most hated team, Man Utd second and Chelsea third. Manchester United, not surprizingly did not appear in the top 20 most loved clubs.

As the match will be played on Sunday to accommodate TV (yawn), at least Man Utd will not be top of the league after the first day of the Premiership season It will be interesting for those watching the match on TV for the number of times the commentator refers to Manchester United as “United”, showing their bias when playing another United team or the ignorant / arrogant Man Utd fans chant “United”.
