You’re not part of Manchester!

Manchester United moved to Old Trafford from their Newton Heath home in 1910. The original club, Newton Heath L&YR, which stands for Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, must have been unpopular with the local Lancastrian population due to this Yorkshire reference in their name! Is this the origins of why the majority Manchester and surrounding area’s, football fan’s don’t support Man Utd?

Further, careful examination of the Manchester Boundary in 1930 (below) clearly shows Old Trafford, the then home of Manchester United, is not in Manchester! Again is this a reason why the local population turned their backs on this football team?
