Curbishley wanted Man Utd to win?
West Ham boss Alan Curbishley refused to speak after Manchester United won 4-1 in a game pivotal to deciding the title. Assistant Mervyn Day played down comments which seemed to suggest the West Ham boss wanted Man United to win the league in preference to Chelsea.

“He felt Manchester United would be unlucky if they did not win the league, given they have been so dominant.”
“I don’t think he said he wanted them to win.” Well he either did or didn’t - where there is smoke…..
“I know Alan thinks a lot of Sir Alex but that goes out the window when you cross the white line.” The Manager doesn’t cross the white line (assuming we mean the touchline of the pitch).

I found this on the net which is a fairly balanced account of the situation BEFORE the result of the Man U v West Ham match was known….
West Ham manager Alan Curbishley has upset Chelsea boss Avram Grant, whose side are level on points with Manchester United going into the final two matches of the season.
One of those remaining matches is Manchester United v West Ham United, which means Curbishley’s Hammers could have an influence on the outcome of the title race. Grant’s Chelsea travel to Newcastle 48 hours later. They could really do with West Ham to upset Man United.
Grant was incensed to hear Curbishley claim this week that it would be an injustice if United didn’t win the Premier League this season because they play the ‘most entertaining’ football. Grant is not questioning West Ham’s determination to obtain a result, but is angry that Curbishley went public with his views while his team are still involved in the outcome of the title race.
“I’m not doubting the integrity of West Ham and I don’t have a reason to doubt the integrity of Alan Curbishley, but I think it is wrong he says things like this because he is involved in the game against United,” Grant said.

Here is the exact quote:
“I would like to see United win the title because of how they have played this season. It would be an injustice if they didn’t. That’s why I would raise a glass if United win the title.”

Off to another potentially “interesting”
manager’s team next (Steve Bruce at Wigan).

That is what i have heard most fans say, ManUtd play better football than Chelsea, Chelsea grind out results and fair enough they are around the top of the table.
If United hadnt got the early goal then i think it would have been a totally different game, the Hammers would have grown in confidence.
Lets see how Newcastle play tomorrow
